UPVC Porches for the Isle of Wight

As with other products such as windows, conservatories and orangeries, UPVC can also bring its almost endless benefits to porch solutions as well – most notably, strength, durability, low maintenance and versatility in design. It is also relatively low cost, therefore UPVC porches are the most popular option for many homeowners looking to improve the entrance to their property. If your windows or other home features are already made of UPVC, then it make sense to include UPVC solutions to your porch, but this will always be alongside a brick or stone structure in keeping with the present property.

Security

All Porch windows and doors from Coastline can all be specified with the same level of security features as our standard windows and doors. This includes high security hinges, high security handles, multi-point locking systems, plus dog bolts and anti-bump cylinders on doors. All our security features will transform your porch into a useful and safe place to store your belongings without any risk to your home and family.

Practical

A quality porch should act as the ideal place for storing belongings and what better place to collect your post in the morning. Porches are a permanent fixture and you may question how you coped without one in the first place. A front porch can create a great first impression of your home as well as add value to the property.

Cost Effective

Compared to a conservatory or orangery, a porch is usually more of a functional improvement. However, most homeowners with a porch will tell you that they now couldn’t live without one. Costs of a porch are a fraction of the cost of other home improvements, so no wonder they are so popular.

Available In Two Types Of Roofing Styles…

We produce our solid roofs as lightweight tiles and lightweight slates so that all tastes are catered for. They both work equally as effectively and can withstand anything that the weather throws at them. Even years down the line they will look as good as new, even though minimal maintenance is necessary.

Lightweight Tile

Restore your conservatory back to how it used to be with our lightweight tiles which can be incorporated into the existing design in no time at all. So that they match the previous roof aesthetic style choose between our finishes in green, charcoal, red, umber and ebony.

Lightweight Slate

Traditional slate really looks the part when first utilised in a conservatory roof design, but unless you commit yourself to looking after it that appearance soon starts to wear away. Once age begins to get a hold of it there is little chance of restoring it back to its former state. Imitation slate from Coastline shares all the hallmarks of traditional slate so far as how it looks, but it doesn’t easily disintegrate. We supply it in colours of plum, stone, brick red, black and pewter grey.

Planning Permission

The planning rules for UPVC or Aluminium Porches are applicable to any external door to the dwelling or house. Adding a porch to any external door of your home in Basingstoke, Fareham, Winchester, Portsmouth & Southampton and throughout Hampshire is considered to be permitted development, not requiring an application for planning permission, provided:

  • The ground floor area (measured externally) would not exceed three square metres.
  • No part would be more than three metres above ground level (height needs to be measured in the same way as for a house extension).
  • No part of the porch would be within two metres of any boundary of the dwelling house and the highway.

Please note: the permitted development allowances described above apply to houses – not flats, maisonettes or other buildings.

Building Regulations

Building a porch at ground level and under 30 square metres in floor area is normally exempt from the need for building regulation approval. This is provided that glazing and any fixed electrical installations comply with the appropriate sections of building regulations.

For a porch to be exempt from building regulations approval:

  • The front entrance door between the existing house and the new porch must remain in place.
  • If the house has ramped or level access for disabled people, the porch must not adversely affect access.
