Low Maintenance – Aluminium bi-folding doors couldn’t be any less maintenance than they are. Made from a high-grade aluminium, the door frames are scratch and fade-resistant, so they won’t ever exhibit any signs of ageing. If they become dirty at any point, just get a wet cloth and wipe the frames down to fully restore their finish. We conceal the running system to prevent it becoming obstructed and stopping the doors running smoothly.

Easy Glide System – There is an aluminium carriage at the bottom of each individual door section, in which four wheels run inside a low threshold track. The wheels are specifically made from a high resilient nylon to avoid any chance of degradation occurring due to heat or friction. They spin around a hardened stainless steel shaft on its own set of bearings along a stainless steel track.

Low Level Threshold – For a flawless finish outside and inside, choose either of the following low level thresholds; weather and non-weathered.

You will be presented with two possible configurations for a 2-pane bi-folding door – an inward or outward opening. An outward opening is really useful if your conservatory is similarly compact and you want to make the most of every inch of space it offers, even the bi-folds are open. You needn’t be fearful about bi-folding doors giving thieves a potential route into your private living quarters as they’re virtually impossible to shift when locked shut. They have a multi-point locking system, which when engaged, locks in several directions into a robust lock keep to keep the door sash completely fixed to the door frame.

Most of our customers decide to have double glazed units for their bi-folding doors, but they are available with triple glazed units if you want to maximise insulation and get the best possible energy savings. We internally bead the glass to prevent it being removed from outside of the house, and the high-security master handles contain cylinder locks to vastly reduce the likelihood of them being forced opened.

It doesn’t matter how you have your bi-folding doors configured, they will require one of three different types of handle. Pass doors and integrated French doors will require a master handle which will house a cylinder lock, and will be used to engage the multi-point locking system when the bi-fold door is in the closed position.

Each individual door section will need a D-handle and an intermediate handle. The intermediate handle is used to release the folding panes from the door frame upon opening it, and then re-engages when the doors are closed. The role of a D-handle is to either push or pull the folding panes. You will find various modern and traditional master handles in our hardware suite, and you can colour match them with the intermediate and D-handles.
